What Young Sheldon has to do with success.
As I was winding down with an episode of "Young Sheldon" last night (yes, it's my secret to a quick snooze! 😴), a simple yet profound piece of advice caught my attention: "Be scared and do it anyway." It struck a chord and got me thinking about the power of stepping out of our comfort zones.
Imagine if we let fear hold us back. For me, that would have meant missing out on three triathlons, not experiencing the thrill of rappelling down the Grand Canyon, or forgoing the chance to be a trapeze artist for a day. More significantly, it would have meant staying guarded after a tough divorce, never opening my heart to meet and fall in love with my wonderful husband, Joe.
And my business? That could have remained just a dream. Launching and sustaining your own venture is daunting—there are no promises of paid vacations or steady raises. Yet, here I am, a decade later, still navigating the waves of entrepreneurship, from delivering my first business presentation to gearing up for speaking at a two-day conference.
Fear is natural, but each step we take despite it, opens doors to extraordinary experiences and growth.
So, I ask you, what’s holding you back? Is it the fear of finding a new job, starting your own business, or facing the starting line of your first race? Whatever it is, remember: bravery isn’t the absence of fear. It's the courage to face it head-on.
Let's embrace the challenge, and just like Young Sheldon advises, do it anyway!
This was one of the scariest moments during my Grand Canyon adventure. I had to crab crawl through this opening with no safety net, no harness. Just the strength of my legs holding me. I got scard and the guides talked me through this. My friend Ria took this photo and when’s theres a camera I smile– no matter what else is going on.
