Could LinkedIn be getting in the 🎟 ticket selling business?

Online events were taking off before March 2022, but when our world shifted to 𝘼𝙇𝙇 𝙤𝙣𝙡𝙞𝙣𝙚, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 𝙨𝙠𝙮𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙠𝙚𝙩𝙚𝙙.

I know personally, because I signed up for TONS for online events, some were FREE and some were PAID. Most of the time, BOTH types of events required me to sign up and took me off LinkedIn to a landing page of some sorts.

As someone who hosts online events, the sign-up process can get a little clunky and I wondered many times why LinkedIn didn't have this feature.

TechCrunch has confirmed that LinkedIn is testing "paid events".

I say bring it on. One stop shopping. Register and pay for an event on LinkedIn.

Does seem like it would be easier for the attendee, right? My question is, what is the cost to organizer and how clumsy will LinkedIn make it?

A LinkedIn spokesperson confirmed the information to TC:
“Amid the changing world of work and transition to a nearly all-remote workforce, LinkedIn Events has seen a surge in growth, with 21 million people attending an Event on LinkedIn in 2020,” said Nicole Leverich, LinkedIn spokesperson. “We continue to learn from member and customer feedback and test new ways to improve the experience. As part of this, we are exploring options for payment in the Events product based on feedback from event organizers.”

Do you think this a good feature? Would you consider using ticketed LinkedIn events?

Curious to see what my network has to say about this new feature.

Is it a HECK YA or HELL NO for you?
