Tips to Help you Land your Dream Job

Career Professionals the first tip is not to sit and hit apply 25 times! While it is still a numbers game there’s a better way to spend your time. I’ll get to that in a minute.

Try using my TPA method:

  • Think

  • Plan

  • Action

You see the biggest mistake I see happening with career clients- they are so eager to get a new job they jump straight to the Action part and the results they get are:

➡ They’re missing the mark altogether

➡ Hearing crickets

➡ Getting frustrated

  1. Take some time to think about what you really want to do. If you are employed you’re not in despair mode I highly recommend taking the time to research companies and cultures and dive into your superpowers and talents. Are you using current industry words or does 2001 want Excel and MS word back? Try Google Suite expert instead.

  2. What’s important to you? And what are your deal breakers?

  3. What is your personal brand? Shocked to hear personal brand and career in the same sentence don't be.

Personal Branding is not just for Target, Apple and Nike anymore. Personal Branding helps set you apart and stand out online. Recruiters can tell when someone has invested in their LinkedIn profile and has taken the time to think about the words that they have typed there. They can see when someone has created, defined and established their personal brand.

➡ It's who you are, what are your unique skills?

➡ What do you bring to the table?

➡ What are you passionate about?

➡ What makes you different from everyone else?

➡ How do you want people to feel when they meet you?

➡ When they read your content?

➡ How do you want them to feel? Engaged, excited, or calm and peaceful? Do you want to provoke thought? Are you strategic and analytical?

How is that coming across on your LinkedIn profile? Oh, it's not coming across, I get that. You're the type of person that I work with. I take you from boring to branding on LinkedIn, from unknown to known, to invisible to being found!

After step #2 is completed start researching companies and positions that are in line with your superpowers and talents and throw a couple of “Reach ones” in the mix.

Are you seeing a path here? Does the path have anything to do with blindly applying for jobs? NO.

Now is the time to pivot, recreate or start new.

  • Which one are you going to do?

    • New field?

    • New organization?

    • New business?

Let’s discuss your goals and commitment level to yourself. No one can do this for you, but I can expedite the process.
